Luxury Architectural Porcelain Slab Installation

We had the pleasure of contributing to the tile and slab work at this custom beautiful luxury home in Lake Oswego. Designed to complement the home’s modern architecture and waterfront setting, the project required careful planning, precision installation, and durable materials capable of performing in the Pacific Northwest climate.

Our scope included installing large-format porcelain slabs across an elevated balcony, a spacious ground-level deck and patio, and the stairs leading to the hot tub surround. The consistent slab layout connects each outdoor area and creates a clean, modern finish throughout the property.

The balcony and elevated deck slabs were installed over a MAPEI pedestal system. These adjustable pedestals accommodate the sloped waterproof membrane underneath while maintaining a level finished surface. The open joints between the slabs allow water to drain below the walking surface and flow toward the built-in drainage system.

The stair slabs were securely installed using high-performance thin-set mortar, with the joints filled using commercial-grade silicone for flexibility and long-term protection against moisture. The ground-level slabs were finished with polymeric sand between the joints to help stabilize the surface and provide a clean, durable finish.
